1. Rungrado May Day Stadium

This stadium is located in Pyongyang, North Korea and it holds a capacity of 150,000 people. It is an architectural monument to communism and it was opened in 1989. Its primary purpose was to host parades or other spectacles, but it has also hosted some national football teams. It is the largest stadium in the world, but due to its location, it may never be a host for a major tournament. A fact that is truly sad because of how amazing it is to see.

2. Salt Lake Stadium

This stadium is located in Bidhan Nagar, Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is owned by the Indian Football Association and is capable of holding up to 120,000 football fans. It opened in January 1984. It not only hosts national football games but it is also used by four clubs in India so that they can play football as well. These clubs include the Mohammedan SC, Prayag United, East Bengal FC, and Mohum Bagan FC.



3. Bukit Jalil National Stadium

This stadium which is located in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumper, Malaysia can hold up to 110,000 football lovers as well as fans of other things. It is designed to be a multi-purpose arena and was inaugurated on January 1, 1998. Exactly one year later it was renovated. It is operated under the National Sports Complex and owned by the Malaysian Government. It is the largest stadium in Southeast Asia. The Malaysian national football team calls it home and it was initially built to host the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

It is where the Mexican national team call home and it was host to the World Cup final in 1970 and 1986. This arena is best known for cricket but it is also host to the Australian national football team. It is located in Melbourne, Australia and can hold 100,018 people. This stadium opened in 1957 and it was a symbol of Catalan nationalism. This arena has been home to Futbol Club Barcelona since it opened. It has become one of the most striking football arenas in the world as well as the symbol of Catalan culture. It is used for not only football games, but for concerts and other events. It only took three years to complete this amazing stadium. Currently it is operated and owned by the FC Barcelona. It is the largest stadium in Europe.



7. Azadi Stadium

This stadium was formerly known as Aryamehr Stadium. It is located in Tehran, Iran. It was opened around 1973 and was renovated in 2003. It has an overall capacity of 95,225 people, but it has held up to 100,000 under special circumstances. It is owned by the ASC, operated by the Tehran Municipality. It is part of the Azadi Sport Complex and the word Azadi has the meaning of “freedom”. This stadium’s surrounding area is large enough to hold 400 cars parked inside of it. That is a lot of floor space for football players to enjoy.



8. NB Stadium

South Africa is home to the NB stadium which can hold 95000 people within its walls. It was built in 1989 and renovated for the 2010 World Cup opening game. Nelson Mandela made his first speech here after he was released from prison and Neil Diamond was part of a concert here during his 2011 world tour. It is one of the most notable historical stadiums in South Africa.



9. Soccer City

Johannesburg, South Africa is capable of holding 94,700 people. It is home to the South African national team and the stadium that hosted the 2010 World Cup Final which is how it came to hold so many people. It was renovated and expanded from holding the previous 78,000 people for the final World Cup game. It is designed so that no one inside will be more than 100 metres from all the football action they want to see. It is currently owned by the city of Johannesburg and operated by the Stadium Management South Africa.



10. The Rose Bowl

Located in Pasadena, California, The Rose Bowl can hold up to 93,420 people in its stands. It is home to the football team of UCLA and the annual college football game bowl which is held on New Year’s Day. It has hosted Olympics in 1932 and 1984. It was also the chosen stadium for the 1994 Fifa World cup Final and 1999 Fifa Women’s Cup final. It has also served as one of the four host stadiums for national championship games in the Bowl Championship. Most recently it will also be part of the College football playoffs as one of the semi final game sites. It was under construction from 1921 until 1922 with a dedication which took place in October of 1922. It held the first Rose Bowl Game in 1923.
